MyMe Beauty, an eco-friendly beauty brand, was born out of our team’s commitment to sustainability and a vision to address the environmental impact of single-use cotton pads within the beauty industry. Driven by a passion for eco-friendly solutions, we sought to create a comprehensive product that not only reduced waste but also provided consumers with a luxurious alternative.

MyMe Beauty envisioned reusable and luxurious makeup pads, accompanied by a range of complementary products to promote sustainable beauty practices. The challenge we faced was monumental. MyMe Beauty needed a complete end-to-end solution, from product ideation to launching in the competitive Amazon UK marketplace. We embarked on a journey to transform a simple idea into a market-ready product and establish a brand presence in a highly competitive industry.

The Process

This project was incredibly personal to us, developed in-house with a deep connection to our team. It began with the creation of the brand name, ‘MyMe,’ inspired by Hamish, our founder, sister Jemima, affectionately nicknamed ‘MyMe,’ who has a love for makeup. The name is also significant as it is composed of two possessive nouns, reflecting a personal touch.

The branding process included designing a logo that conveyed elegance and a premium feel, something uncommon for this type of product. The logo subtly joins the ‘y’ and ‘e’ to embody an elegant yet possessive nature. Additionally, a logo mark variant was created using two ‘M’s, symbolising the brand in a beautiful and distinctive way. The slogan ‘Love your skin, love your planet’ was crafted to accompany the logo, encapsulating the brand’s ethos of promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle.

In developing the MyMe Beauty product bundle, we carefully analysed competitor reviews to identify areas for improvement. Common complaints included pads being too thick and absorbing too much product, insufficient quantities to last a week, lack of exfoliation, rough textures, poor washing experience, lack of care instructions, small pad sizes, and low-quality materials that fell apart easily. We designed the MyMe Beauty Kit to address these issues by creating larger, high-quality pads in 2 textures and sizes with gentle exfoliation, improved stitching, clear care instructions and enough to last over a week, ensuring a superior product that stood out from the competition.

An integral part of our process was designing the product packaging to house our MyMe Beauty Kit. The packaging was designed to standout in the category yet be informative and engaging, detailing what’s inside the kit, how to use and care for the products, and providing ways for customers to get in touch and follow on social media. We included a thank you card and an instructional guide inside the package to add a personal touch from the brand, enhancing the customer experience.

Our next steps involved reaching out to suppliers and testing numerous samples to ensure high quality. After selecting and negotiating with our chosen manufacturer, we initiated the production process. While waiting for the products to be manufactured and shipped, we focused on building the Amazon listing and store front, and conducting a product and lifestyle photography shoot.

We also developed a website for MyMe Beauty, providing brand information, product details, and engaging blog content on eco-friendly beauty tips and industry insights. Additionally, we created and managed social media profiles on Instagram and Facebook, posting educational content to reach and engage our target market as well as customer testimonials. By addressing every aspect of the brand’s development, from product ideation to launching an online presence, we ensured that MyMe Beauty was well-positioned for success in the eco-friendly market place.

Social Media

To build MyMe Beauty's online presence and connect with its eco-conscious audience, we developed and managed its social media profiles on Instagram and Facebook. These platforms were used not only to showcase the MyMe Beauty Kit but also to educate and engage the target market with valuable content. Posts included eco-friendly beauty tips, tutorials on using and caring for the products, and insights into the environmental impact of single-use beauty items.

A consistent content calendar was implemented to maintain audience engagement, blending product features with user-generated content, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and customer testimonials. We also collaborated with key influencers in the beauty space to amplify our reach, leveraging their audiences to promote the MyMe Beauty Kit on social channels. Their authentic endorsements helped drive awareness, build credibility, and generate buzz around the product.

Additionally, we used these platforms to build a community by interacting with followers, answering queries, and encouraging dialogue around sustainable beauty practices. This holistic approach to social media not only increased brand awareness but also fostered trust and loyalty among the audience.

Outcome

The result of our collaboration was the MyMe Beauty Kit—a luxurious collection comprising of 21 reusable makeup pads, a reusable laundry bag, a bamboo charcoal Konjac sponge, and a Zero Waste ebook.

Positioned as a premium product within the eco-friendly market, the kit not only stood out in quality but also reflected the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Our efforts extended beyond the product itself, encompassing a meticulously crafted brand identity, an engaging Amazon listing and website, as well as educational social media content.

The impact of our work was substantial. MyMe Beauty successfully sold over 5000 products, achieved a 4.6 global review rating, and ranked second on the first page for top search keywords.

Despite facing challenges such as fake negative reviews and price wars from larger competitors, the brand garnered significant attention and loyalty from customers.
